Session 4: Know your assessment practices

By the end of this unit, participants should be able to.

  • Develop their teaching and assessment practices related to the topic Earth Systems and Climate Change.
  • Explore and select appropriate scientific process skills in relation to Earth Systems.
  • Develop relevant investigative tasks related to topics on ‘Earth Systems’.


Teachers need to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate their ability to engage in the scientific process. Learners need opportunities to demonstrate the process skills of Raising questions, Predicting, Hypothesizing, Planning, Recording etc. This is vital especially in understanding the topic of Earth Systems in the context of Climate Change.
