Fundisa for Change: Trainer of Trainers – Facilitating E-Learning is a capacity-building course designed to empower educators, facilitators, and trainers working in both formal and non-formal settings to advance Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).

This course supports professional development in digital and blended learning, enabling participants to design, facilitate, and evaluate ESD-aligned learning experiences. It promotes active learning, reflexive pedagogy, and the integration of environmental and sustainability content across diverse educational contexts.

Ideal for teacher educators, NGO practitioners, environmental educators, extension officers, and community facilitators, the course equips participants to support learning in schools, communities, and organisations.

Course structure

Structured into three practical modules, the programme:

  1.  Introduces ESD teaching and the Fundisa for Change programme
  2. Explores digital facilitation strategies and pedagogies
  3.  Focuses on monitoring and evaluating online learning

Participants will build a Portfolio of Evidence by completing three practical assignments throughout the course.

  2. Identify training needs and plan context-relevant ESD learning.
  3. Design and facilitate interactive digital and blended learning sessions.
  4. Use inclusive, reflexive pedagogies to support diverse learners.
  5. Integrate digital tools and platforms into ESD facilitation.
  6. Develop and implement a facilitation and evaluation plan.
  7. Monitor and evaluate online learning using practical tools.
  8. Compile a Portfolio of Evidence to demonstrate applied learning.

Course Assessment

This accredited short course is offered through Rhodes University and facilitated by an experienced member of the Fundisa for Change team. Participants will complete three practical assignments aligned with each module: a needs analysis, a facilitation plan, and a monitoring and evaluation tool. These tasks form part of a Portfolio of Evidence, which is required for successful completion and certification.
